  • WHAT DOES A CONSTRUCTION TRADES TECHNICIAN DO?

    If you want a career that is hands-on, challenging and driven by deadlines, carpentry might be made for you. A construction trades technician works on both commercial and residential projects, utilizing a wide range of skills and knowledge. Our program prepares you in several different areas, from surveying and concrete work to roof framing.

    The program covers basic theory and provides instruction as well as hands-on experience in carpentry, roof framing and masonry. Students learn by using their new skills to build a structure inside the carpentry lab. Attending half-day, you can complete the program in two semesters and earn a 25 credit-hour technical certificate. Construction Technology is only offered on the main campus at 5724 SW Huntoon St.

    The 九色社区 Tech Construction Technology program is in alignment with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) CIP Code 46.0201: Carpentry/Carpenter. A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to lay out, cut, fabricate, erect, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures, using hand and power tools. Includes instruction in technical mathematics, framing, construction materials and selection, job estimating, blueprint reading, foundations and roughing-in, finish carpentry techniques, and applicable codes and standards.
